May 14, 2012AATM is mourning Dr. Davit Gasparyan’s death
It is with deep grief that we inform you about the tragic demise of Dr. David Gasparyan – Head of Department of Gynecology at the Medical Center "Kanaker-Zeitoun," Founding Board Member of the Armenian Association of Telemedicine.
Davit Gasparyan, M.D., Ph.D., was born on November 10, 1971 in Yerevan, Armenia. He obtained his degree in medicine at the Yerevan State Medical University in 1994; he did his residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Research Center of Maternal and Child Health Protection in Yerevan, Armenia, and qualified as specialist in 1997. In 1999-2002 he was research fellow at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the National Institute of Health, and received a PhD degree in 2002. He practiced Obstetrics, Maternal Care and Surgical Gynecology at several institutions, including service as Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Nairi hospital (1999-2004). Since June 2004 he has worked as the Head of Department of Gynecology at Medical Center “Kanaker-Zeytun” in Yerevan, Armenia.
Dr. Gasparyan participated in numerous training courses, CME activities and research meetings in Armenia, Russia and European countries, including several longer term visits to University Hospitals in Berlin (Charite) and Cologne. He was member to the National Association of Gynecologic Endoscopy of Russian Federation, Armenian Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, National Association of Health Managers of Armenia.
In 2008 Dr. Gasparyan with his colleagues co-founded Armenian Association of Telemedicine (AATM), and for the subsequent years provided his invaluable input as telehealth pioneer in Armenia, serving as AATM General Secretary and Treasurer.
In the face of Dr. Gasparyan healthcare in Armenia has lost an outstanding representative; his patients and colleagues, peers, seniors and juniors – a talented and sensitive Physician, Fellow, Teacher and Student; his mourning family, relatives and friends – a perfect Son, Husband, Father, Brother and Friend; and all those who had the honor to know him – simply а fine and bright person, a Man of rare qualities.
Dear David, you are with us, in our souls and our hearts - forever!
The service will be held today, on May 14th, starting at 6 pm in the church of St. Hovhannes (Proshyan St.); the funeral ceremony will start on Tuesday, May 15th, 2 PM from the above church.
